Vespers Booklets

Created for my own parish (Mother of God, Joy of All Who Sorrow, Orthodox Church, Princeton, NJ), these Vespers booklets follow the standard practice of a simplified Great Vespers (not All-Night Vigil) service in the Orthodox Church of America.

All the readers' texts and all the sung parts are printed in the booklet, so everyone at Vespers can read and sing along.

There is a separate booklet for each Tone, hence there are 8 booklets total. In our parish, we printed 10-15 booklets of each Tone to allow everyone who attends Vespers to have a booklet.

The Stikhera, Troparia & Kontakia that correspond to the Tone of the week are printed each booklet. For the texts that change based on the time of year, etc., I provide an additional handout which download from the Orthodox Church of America Music Texts website. In our parish we either read or sing the texts that change, depending on the choir's familiarity with the Tone.

Format:

  • printed on 8.5in x 11in paper folded in half and stapled in the middle

  • each Tone has a different color cover sheet

Customized Vespers Booklets

I can design customized Vespers booklets for your parish. Please contact me at KlirosCompanion@gmail.com to discuss.

I will need to know more about you parish practice: if you you use Thee/Thou or You/Your and any other particular traditions or practices your parish may have. I will also need to know what style of music you would like, and which arrangements of "Blessed is the Man," "O Gladsome Light," and other hymns you normally sing.

The cost will vary widely, depending on:

  • your budget

  • how much custom work I will have to do

  • how quickly you need them

  • whether or not you'd like to receive them in PDF format (for printing & binding yourself) or if you'd to receive them ready-made, printed and binded
